The Alabama Public Library Service will host a virtual New Library Director's Orientation on Aug. 4 – 5. The two-day training for new directors will be hosted on the Cisco WebEx web conferencing platform.

Virginia Doyle, who serves on the APLS Board of Directors representing District 6, was presented the 2021 Humanitarian Award by the Alabama Library Association at their virtual convention, April 28-29.

Six of the state's public libraries were ranked and listed as Star Libraries on the 2020 Library Journal Index (LJI) of Public Library Service. Alabama's Star Libraries for 2020 are as follows:

The 2021 Summer Library Program (SLP) Kickoff has been moved from Jan. 6 to Jan. 13. The virtual training program, which begins at 9 a.m., will take place on the Cisco Webex training platform and will last approximately six hours.
