LIBRARY CARDS

Area adult residents are welcome to apply for a free patron card. Applications by minors must be signed by a parent or guardian who will accept responsibility for library materials loaned. Proper identification will be required for all applicants.

HOURS

The Somerville Public Library is open Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesday from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m., Thursdays from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., Friday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m... The library will be closed for major holidays. A wall drop box is located in the front of the library for after-hours book deposits.

BOOKS

Books are loaned for a two-week period, up to 2 renewals allowed. Patrons are limited to 10 items for the first loan. After the first loan period, patrons are allowed up to 15 books per patron per loan period. Recorded books follow the same regulations.

DVDs

Patrons are limited to five titles per card with one renewal except as deemed necessary by staff. DVD and VHS movies are loaned for a 1-week period.

FINES

Late fees for books are $0.30 per day, and DVDs or VHS late fees are $.30 per day. Borrower must pay listed price for lost items or items damaged beyond repair. Recognized legal holidays are considered when setting due date. Borrower will be responsible for late fees, damages to library materials, or losses of library materials borrowed. Outstanding fines must be cleared before further loans can be made.

PUBLIC USE COMPUTERS

We currently offer your choice of 11 public use computers with high-speed internet access. Children 10 and under must be continually attended by responsible caregiver to use computers. We offer filtered internet services, which restrict access to offensive sites. Misuse or abuse of computer equipment will result in termination of privileges. Disruptive behavior will not be tolerated. Local, state and federal laws prohibit accessing or displaying offensive materials. Violator’s privileges will be permanently terminated.

CHILD SAFETY

Parent/guardian is solely responsible for the safety of underage or mentally impaired patrons.

EMERGENCY PROCEDURES

In the event of emergency weather situations, such as tornado watches, severe thunderstorm watches, ice storm watches, etc., Somerville Public Library will remain open and monitor the latest weather developments. Should the Somerville Town Hall close, we will close for the safety of our patrons and staff.
